The most common cause of old age erectile dysfunction is plaque buildup in the arteries. At one time it was believed this was due to excess consumption of high cholesterol foods. This theory has now been debunked. Ironically it is actually due to deficiency of vitamin K2, which is most commonly found in high cholesterol foods. With increased consumption of foods containing vitamin K2, or with supplementation, erectile dysfunction from clogged arteries can be reversed or prevented.
Vitamin K2 activates a protein that helps prevent calcium from depositing in your arteries. These calcium deposits contribute to the development of plaque.

Re: Erectile Dysfunction
Vitamin K1 and K2 have different functions. K1 is involved in blood clotting function and K2 controls where the body places dietary calcium. K1 is found in green vegetables. Humans cannot effectively convert K1 to K2 whereas some animals can. Cows that are fed a diet high in K1 from grass will produce more K2 than cows fed grain. Free range chickens also produce more K2 than those held in cages and fed grain. Large birds are most efficient at producing vitamin K2. Geese can produce large amounts of K2 even when fed grain. Hence foie gras is the second highest food source after natto.
The other main source of vitamin K2 is bacterial fermentation. Natto is fermented soybeans. It is the highest known food source of vitamin K2 in the form of MK7. Cheese has some K2 produced by the animal in the form of MK4. It also has some K2 from bacterial fermentation in the form of MK9. The amount of MK9 depends on the strain of bacteria used. There is also a special strain of intestinal bacteria Lactobacillus lactis sub species cremoris developed as a probiotic to enable humans to produce vitamin K2. There are no vegan food sources of vitamin K2 except for fermented foods.

Re: Erectile Dysfunction
The most effective form of vitamin K2 supplement is MK7, which is produced by bacterial fermentation. I have personally tried MK4 supplements without success and MK7 with success. They should be taken with a fatty meal for better absorption, since vitamin K2 is fat soluble. I think the manufacturers of MK4 supplements didn't get the molecule correct. Food sources should be okay.
Animal food sources are mostly MK4. Natto is MK7 and cheese is a combination of MK4, MK9 and others. Other than natto (Japanese fermented soybeans), animal fats are the best sources, especially from large birds. Duck fat is available for purchase as a cooking oil. Goose fat is also offered but harder to find.

Re: Erectile Dysfunction
The other main factor causing calcium deposits in the arteries is too much calcium and not enough magnesium. The body uses up magnesium In the process of removing excess calcium. Magnesium is used in hundreds of biochemical processes in the body.
Re: Erectile Dysfunction
Dark chocolate is one of the best food sources of magnesium. However, it contains caffeine and theobromine, so limit quantities. Nuts, seeds and legumes (beans) are good sources of magnesium, but they are also high in dietary estrogens and inflammatory omega 6 oil, so limit quantities. Whole grain is the best source of magnesium that doesn't require limitations on quantities.
Re: Erectile Dysfunction
Excess calcium and insufficient magnesium not only causes erectile dysfunction, it's also a factor in heart disease and cancer. Higher magnesium intake is associated with longer lifespan.

"Calorie restriction is one of the most effective interventions that reliably slows aging and extends lifespans in numerous species. The problem is that it requires severe reductions in food intake that are nearly impossible for most people to follow. Fortunately, it may be possible to achieve many of the benefits of calorie restriction without limiting your food intake. A cell study published in late 2016 revealed that magnesium supplementation mimics a key underlying mechanism of calorie restriction."
